New Zealand NCEA admission requirements

Guidelines for admission on the basis of NCEA

New Zealand students undertaking the NCEA, who intend to apply for courses at Monash University, are recommended to attempt only achievement standards or mainly achievement standards, as Monash University can only consider applicants on the result of graded assessment. (Unit standards do not qualify as graded assessment, as the only possible results are achieved/attempted.)

Minimum credit points requirement

Applicants must have completed a minimum of 80 credit points at level 3 in no more than five of the following approved subjects.

English language entry requirement

Applicants must have completed a minimum of 18 credit points at level 3 in one subject from the following list, with a result average of 2.5 or better: English, classical studies, geography, history, history of art.

Course subject prerequisites

Where a course has other specific VCE study prerequisites, applicants must have completed a minimum of 18 credit points at level 3 in an equivalent NCEA subject, with an average result value equivalent to the required VCE study score. (The equivalence is derived by multiplying the NCEA subject average result value by 10.)
