What are my options and how much do I pay?

Your options are:

• Pay your Student Contribution Amount (SCA) up front each semester. Australian Citizens and Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder students can choose to pay at least $500 and defer the remainder. These students will also get a 20% discount on the amount paid up front.
• Defer your fees using ‘HECS-HELP’. This option avoids paying anything up front in favour of paying later through your tax or by making voluntary payments. This option is only available to Australian Citizens and Permanent Humanitarian Visa holders.

Once you have chosen a payment option at the beginning of your course, you can change options up until the census date by contacting Student Administration or using the Web Enrolment System (WES).

How much do course fees cost?

There are four payment bands depending on the units you will be doing at University. Please visit the Fees website for fees rates and calculators.

If I defer payments either fully or in part, when do I repay?

The easiest method is to have repayments taken out of your taxable income through your employer or the ATO. The repayments start once your income exceeds a certain level. For further information please visit DEST Going to Uni

Any voluntary repayment of over $500 entitles you to a 10% discount. For example, a $500 early repayment on a debt would reduce the debt by a total of $550.
