Occupational Health and Safety Road & Traffic Sub-Committee
Terms of Reference
- To periodically review existing arrangements for the safe movement of pedestrians, bicycles and motor vehicles within the University grounds and in areas adjacent to the entrances of the University and to assess all such arrangements in the light of prevailing and anticipated conditions and requirements.
- To examine proposals for new buildings and structures with respect to the possible impact on pedestrian and traffic safety, both during construction and on completion.
- To make recommendations, as appropriate, to the Occupational Health and Safety Policy Committee, the Planning Committee and the Parking Committee.
- To receive and consider submissions from other University Committees on matters relating to pedestrian and traffic safety.
- To consider reports of accidents involving vehicles and pedestrians and to ensure that appropriate preventive action is taken.
- To liaise with external authorities and groups concerned with matters of road safety and traffic movement.
- To make proposals to the Occupational Health and Safety Policy Committee concerning information dissemination and education on matters of road and pedestrian safety.
