Assistance for Staff and Students Returning from Tsunami Affected Areas

Staff and Students recently in countries affected by the Tsunami may be experiencing situations that are distressing and may also have health concerns.

Staff and students who have any medical concerns should contact their doctor as soon as possible. Assistance is also available from the following sources.

  • University Health Services, telephone: (03) 9905-3175
  • Community Services (counselling), telephone: (03) 9905-3156
  • The Department of Health and Ageing has produced interim health information for people returning from Tsunami-affected areas.
  • The Australian Government in cooperation with state and Territory Governments have a 24 hour hotline to support Australian victims and their families. This hotline can provide information about financial assistance, counselling or medical and health information. Telephone: 1800 057 111 (freecall, except mobile telephones) or go to their website.
