Telecommunications Equipment

Overview

There are a range of telecommunication systems that use antennas that utilise radiofrequency radiation (which includes microwave radiation) to send and receive information across distances. Systems include: radiocommunications as used by taxi services and emergency services, IT data links and mobile phone networks.

Mobile phone networks are set up with a series of base stations (usually large towers containing many antennas) that each cover an area or "cell". The base stations send and receive the calls of many individual mobile phones in close proximity and transmit them to other mobiles within their cell or on to other base stations.
