Monash Safety Induction Program - Occupational Health and SafetyThe Monash Safety Induction is available for use by all Monash departments, schools and centres in the induction of new staff. To go to the online induction, click here. Requirements for the induction are:
The online induction has been split into the following components:
The primary aim of the induction is to provide new staff with a brief overview of occupational health and safety policies, procedures and practices at Monash and to provide them with a basic understanding of their own occupational health and safety responsibilities. New staff should complete the Monash Safety Induction Program and be advised of all health and safety aspects at Monash, within the first few days of their arrival. Whilst the general induction is compulsory, staff only need to complete the campus and special hazards modules relevant to each person. For example, a staff member at Clayton campus should complete the general safety induction and the Clayton campus induction at the very least. Records of the different components completed by an inductee will be maintained via an electronic database attached to the online induction. This online induction should only be used in conjunction with other supporting occupational health and safety documentation and must also be accompanied by information on local occupational health and safety procedures. To assist in the induction process, a checklist to be used by supervisors during the induction of new staff is also available. Once again, the checklist should only be seen as a guide and any local departmental information should also be included. Upon completion of the induction process, the checklist should be signed by the supervisor and the new staff member as acknowledgement that the induction process has been completed. A copy of the checklist and other supporting documentation to be distributed to new staff follows here:
