Healthy living tips and news

Tips for eating out

It's one of life's pleasures to take the night off from cooking dinner, but eating out regularly can make it harder to control your kilojoules, fat and salt intake.  Here are some tips for eating out:

  • Choose an entrée sized dish as a main course, or split a main between two people. The same goes for dessert too.
  • Choose lightly dressed side salads or vegetables to help you fill up and manage your kilojoule and saturated fat intake.
  • Choose grilled meats, salads, stir fries and dishes that include plenty of vegetables.
  • Replace ingredients with a healthier option. eg vegetables instead of chips, margarine in place of butter, skim milk rather than full cream

Pillow talk Study

For some years now, some women taking the oral contraceptive pill have noticed a decrease in their libido. This problem has been investigated by The Women's Health Program who are conducting a study into a new oral contraceptive pill that it hopes will lessen this problem.

Volunteers are required for this study to visit the Alfred campus (Prahran) on 4 occasions over a 6 month period.
