Information Technology Industry-Based Learning Placement Scholarships

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be:

• an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa, and
• a current student enrolled full-time in any of the following degrees at a Monash campus in Australia:

• Bachelor of Business Information Systems
• Bachelor of Computer Science
• Bachelor of Software Engineering
• Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems
• Bachelor of Commerce / Bachelor of Business Information Systems
• Bachelor of Science / Bachelor of Computer Science
• Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems

Selection criteria

The Industry-Based Learning Placement Scholarship is awarded based on academic results (a minimum weighted average mark of 65 per cent and no failed units) and an interview conducted by the industry partners of the IBL program.

The selection criteria include academic performance, good communication skills, maturity, enthusiasm, initiative, leadership qualities, extra-curricular interests and participation, exposure to paid work and career interests. Students must have completed course and unit pre-requisites before being considered for admission to the program.

Value and number available

$15,000 paid in two instalments of $7500. Students offered this scholarship will also participate in a 22 week placement with one of the industry partners of the Faculty of Information Technology. The number available is variable depending on funding.

Retention

Recipients of this award must maintain full-time enrolment and a weighted average mark of 65 per cent and no failed units. If these conditions are not met, the scholarship may be suspended or discontinued at the discretion of the IBL Director. The full-time enrolment requirement can only be waived at the discretion of the IBL Director.

Applications can be submitted online at www.infotech.monash.edu/promotion/ibl/apply.html. Eligible students will be invited to an interview. Final selection will be determined by a two stage interview process with industry partners.

Deferability

This scholarship cannot be deferred.
