2010 Cultural Calendar - Equity and Diversity Centre

This calendar has been developed to reflect and celebrate the diverse and multicultural nature of the Monash University community. The calendar contains major religious festivals, Days of Strict Religious Observance in Australia (which can be viewed separately for  2010, 2011 and 2012), University holidays, and other days of cultural or indigenous significance for Australia, Malaysia and South Africa. It is not exhaustive and we hope to constantly expand the coverage of the calendar and are interested in any ideas or suggestions about further inclusions. We apologise for any inadvertent errors or omissions and would be grateful for your feedback.

About this Calendar

The Gregorian calendar used in Australia to establish days, months and seasons is only one of a large number of calendars in use today. A list of Alternative Calendars taken from the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs' 2004 Calendar of Multicultural Events explains why so many events appear at different times each year.

A major source for this calendar is the Interfaith Calendar 2010.
