Equal Opportunity On Line Training Module 2: Sexual Harassment & The Law

Hostile Environments

Behaviour that creates a hostile or sexually permeated environment also amounts to unlawful sexual harassment.

If someone walked into the staff room where smutty jokes, crude gestures, offensive pictures, discussions of people's sex life etc. were occurring, this would constitute a hostile environment.

A person has the right to complain about the effects of a hostile environment even if the conduct is not aimed specifically at them.
