Overview
Report writing is a skill that uses the best of a person's writing skills, research skills and organisational skills. Putting together a report that is coherent, well laid out, and addressing all the needs of the recipient is the subject of this program. Ideally, participants would have completed the Business Writing program as a pre-requisite.
Intended Outcomes
This program covers the skills involved in creating reports from a few pages in length to many hundreds of pages with the primary focus being on the construction and composition of business report writing.
Course Content
- The structure of an effective report—what goes where and why
- Making your reports readable
- Focus on the content
- Analyse the audience and the intended use of the report
- Gathering data and completing research, then compiling data for the report
- The rules of report construction and layout guidelines
Learning Approach
This series will be using the strategies of presentation, discussion and practical case studies and practice. Individual writing will incorporate a large component of the workshop with specific written activities being used.
Handouts
A comprehensive set of workshop notes will be distributed showing all content areas as well as activities and exercises.
