Overview

This program has been designed to assist supervisors and managers of general staff to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to deal effectively with unsatisfactory performance and behaviour.

The program will address:

  • the skills necessary to manage unsatisfactory performance and behaviour prior to the application of any formal processes that may be taken at a later date
  • the knowledge and skills necessary to apply the provisions of the Monash University Enterprise Agreement (Academic & General Staff) 2005.

Course Content

The program will provide opportunities for participants to raise issues of interest and/or concern for discussion and clarification.

Practical case studies will be used to underpin the knowledge and skills that are referred to throughout the program.

The program will include:

  • Managing unsatisfactory performance and behaviour - let's look at the skills we need;
  • Applying the provisions of the Enterprise Agreement.

Handouts

The program will be based on a Handbook titled ‘General Staff – Managing poor performance’, produced by Human Resources Division. A copy of the Handbook will be provided to all participants.
