Target group:Staff who are currently, or soon to be engaged in small, medium or large projects, who wish to learn some of the techniques and tools used to successfully manage such projects.
Group size:Maximum of 16
Level 1 program:Suitable for staff with limited experience in the area or who wish to refresh their skills.

Overview

The program aims to enable participants to evaluate the viability of projects, equip them with the skills and practical tools to enable them to undertake projects more efficiently and effectively, and to evaluate the effectiveness of the projects they have undertaken. The program deals with issues of project planning, monitoring and evaluation.

Intended Outcomes

At the end of this program participants will be able to:

  • Identify and discuss the unique nature of projects
  • Discuss and apply project management principles
  • Use stakeholder analysis and Gantt Charts
  • Be able to undertake a risk analysis and contingency plan
  • Know the best time to set up project monitoring systems and the importance of constant monitoring
  • Undertake a post project review on four different levels
  • Plan what areas they need to develop back in the workplace and how this can be achieved

Learning Approach

The course will be delivered using a combination of methods including theoretical sessions, questionnaires, case studies, simulations, group discussions and self directed learning. This, combined with the comprehensive course notes will enhance the transfer of learning to the workplace.
