Conduct and Compliance Policy

Purpose

To enhance the reputation of Monash University through appropriate staff conduct and behaviours and through compliance with relevant legislation.

Supporting Research and Analysis

This policy provides a framework for the implementation of specific rules and standards of conduct for staff.

Developed in consultation with the University’s Australian, Malaysian and South African campuses, this policy supports compliance with the various legislative and employment frameworks utilised across all campuses.

The Monash University Ethics Statement underpins this policy and does not exclude or replace this policy or its related procedures. In the unlikely event of any inconsistency between the Ethics Statement and this policy, the explicit requirements of this policy shall prevail to the extent of any inconsistency.

Scope

This policy applies to:

  • all campuses; and
  • all staff.

Policy Statement

The University does not condone bullying, discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, victimisation, vilification or violence under any circumstances.

Individual staff members are required at all times to:

  • treat other staff members, students, visitors and contractors with dignity and respect;
  • conduct themselves in an appropriate manner; and
  • comply with any related policies and procedures under this policy, relevant legislation and obligations as set out by the University.
